We believe it's not just lawyers who can have great careers at legal firms.
Are you an experienced Legal PA looking for your next challenge?

Are you an experienced PA who can keep everything running like clockwork?
We’re growing our PA teams across a number of divisions and have vacancies in Edinburgh.
We're looking for candidates who can provide our lawyers with the support they need to deliver excellent legal services to clients. Helping the fee earning teams maximise the amount of time they have to spend on chargeable and other essential work, you will also be heavily involved in the management and execution of your team's day to day workload and diary planning.
PAs play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of their divisions and no day is the same, so excellent organisational skills are a must. It's a busy role and you'll be working with lots of internal and external stakeholders, so excellent communication skills and a sense of fun is also important!

We believe a job spec is useful, but hearing from the people that work here already is even better.
I have loved every
minute of it...
"I have been with the firm for 6 years in total, starting as an administrative assistant then promoted to trainee Legal PA and then Legal PA. I have loved every minute of it...the leadership, encouragement and support I had throughout my PA journey has been second to none, and I will always be grateful.
My role is to support my team of fee earners, to make their life a little easier where possible and be a resource for them in order to get things done, efficiently and within timescales.
Our strength is our people and the family environment within Burness Paull. My fee earners and fellow PA members continually make me feel like a valued member of the team.
It is a people business based around professionalism and quality."

The flexibility on offer has allowed me to work full time...
“At Burness Paull everyone is treated as an individual, and everyone is supported and appreciated. From the outset, I felt like part of the team.
The recognition of work/life balance and the flexibility on offer has allowed me to work full time when I thought this wasn’t really an option with my son still being at primary school.
Our fee earners rely on us to be fast thinking, forward thinking and to be able to provide the assistance they need efficiently and professionally.
There’s ongoing support given to all staff who want to develop - the chance to discuss how you are getting on, what opportunities there may be for you – more responsibility; additional tasks; further learning.”

I’m proud to be an example of how you are encouraged and supported to grow and develop...
"As PAs, we play a central role in our team - we keep everything ticking over in the background. The lawyers can put their trust in us to do all we can to help them out. They can rely on us to do the jobs that would take up a lot of their time, leaving them to do fee earning and BD.
I’m proud to be an example of how you are encouraged and supported to grow and develop at Burness Paull.
I started as a school leaver printing documents and doing filing, then became a Legal PA and I am now about to start training to be a paralegal.
I have met amazing people throughout my 16 years at the firm, including some I would call great friends.
At Burness Paull everyone is seen as equal. You’re recognised as a key part of the firm no matter what your role.”

We believe free fruit in the office is nice, but the freedom to be yourself is what's really important...
At the heart of Burness Paull is our independence.
It’s this that gives us the licence to shape our business and culture in the way we want to, supporting the needs of our people, our clients, our wider community and the environment. It means freedom to pursue a philosophy of always being human in attitude and high-performing in approach.
For our people that means recognising everyone is different and valuing those differences. A culture that celebrates openness and where genuine advice and relationships are championed. An environment that encourages everyone to aim for success by being the best version of themselves.
And because we value the contribution that every one of our team makes, we make sure everyone is rewarded over and above the usual benefits you'd expect from a leading law firm. That means bonus schemes for all employees, family-friendly policies that stand out in the market, and a range of health & wellbeing initiatives that take a holistic approach to supporting colleagues.
